PRESENTATION
The Military University Institute (IUM) is a military university higher education institution, directly dependent on the Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces, which includes the following autonomous university organic units:
1. The Naval School (EN), which depends hierarchically on the Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces;
2. The Military Academy (AM), which depends hierarchically on the Army Chief of Staff;
3. The Air Force Academy (AFA), which depends hierarchically on the Air Force Chief of Staff;
The IUM also includes the Postgraduate Studies Department (DEPG) and the IUM Research and Development Center (CIDIUM).
IUM also includes the Military Polytechnic Unit (UPM), which depends hierarchically on the Commander of IUM, as an autonomous organic polytechnic unit consisting of
1. Navy Polytechnic Department;
2. Army Polytechnic Department
3. Air Force Polytechnic Department;
4. Air Force Polytechnic Department and Republican National Guard Polytechnic Department.
MISSION
IUM develops activities in teaching, research, community support, cooperation and exchange, with the purpose of training officers and sergeants of the permanent staff of the Armed Forces (FFAA) and of the Republican National Guard (GNR), enabling them to exercise the functions that are statutorily assigned to them, conferring the appropriate skills for their performance and promoting individual development for the exercise of functions of command, direction, leadership and staff.
VISION
An IUM recognized as a reference institution in the field of Military Sciences, in the national and international university and polytechnic context, for the quality of its teaching, organizational rigor and dynamism in its activities and partnerships, consisting of motivated and qualified people who actively contribute to the enhancement of Military Sciences and the strengthening of the specificity and credibility of Military Higher Education.
